Hi Windy: I had always wondered myself too. Well, I know now -- I learned something new today. :-) Hail Caesar!

Hi again, I think I found out the reason:

http://www.abheritage.ca/abinvents/inventions/inv_ot_ceasar.htm

Quote: '...The resulting drink, it was deemed, was fit for the Roman emperor, hence the name.'

Hi Ben, out of my interested, I was trying to find out why this drink called Bloody Caesar. Although I cannot find out the exact explanation, you maybe able to find a hint below:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A3116620

My pure guess: Walter Chell might be influence by the Inn's Italian Restaurant to create this drink and the name.

Thank you for the follow-up. I would love to try your drink tips, and especially like the idea of rimming the glass with celery salt!

Hi Passionate Eater: I don't think it makes much of a difference using Mandarin Orange flavoured vodka or not. The Clamato will just over-power any hint of orange flavour in the vodka. I used the Absolut Mandarin just because that is what I had available.

Wow, I was just thinking about a Bloody Mary post, but you did it better than I could ever do! You are a miracle photographer, look at those gorgeous action pictures of the liquids "mid-pour!" And I've had Clamato before, and it is a very savory and delicious drink. Do you recommend using Mandarin Orange flavored vodka for a Bloody Caesar?
