So, what is organic food? Organic food is food that is produced without the usage of pesticides, artificial fertilizers or sewage sludge or genetically modified. Organic food is food that is processed without adding food additives or ionizing radiation. As for the animals, organic means the animals were reared without the usage of antibiotics or growth hormones. In layman term, organic food is food that is grow naturally without human intervention.
Jenny shared with us a Blueberry Cake. She used frozen organic blueberries. During the blueberry season in summer, Jenny bought 100 pounds of organic blueberries and freeze them for her consumption for the rest of the year until the next season. Jenny told us she makes blueberries smoothies every morning for her breakfast.
Jenny baked her Blueberry Cake in a heart shape pan in view of the coming of Valentine’s Day. I had so many posts lining up that I had to post this after Valentine’s Day.

Red Cooking is characterized with the use of its key ingredients like dark and light soy sauce, star anise or five-spice powder, cooking sherry and rock sugar.
The flakiness in Paratha is also achieve through the same technique except that Ghee is used. Ghee is an important ingredient used in Indian Cuisines. Also known as clarified butter, Ghee is made by simmering butter until water is removed.

The dough is made up by adding only water, a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of oil to the flour. The dough is set aside for 30 minutes to rest before it is used to make the roti. After resting, break the dough and roll them into golf ball sized portions.

Sujre is new addition to the Gilmore Church Park community kitchen. As far as I know, she is the first member of East Indian ethnic in this cooking club I attend. This is good because this means that we will now have East Indian cooking demonstrations too. True enough, Sujre made an Indian Curry Chicken and two different types of bread to go with it. I am blogging on the Curry Chicken today and will blog on the bread the next two days.

We had a few oyster shells left over, twelve in fact. I know that the all-you-can-eact sushi places reuses the shells from the oyster motoyaki to serve what they call the Seafood Motoyaki which is basically motoyaki with salmon. This is Suanne’s version of the Salmon Motoyaki.

It is better and safer to use a Oyster Knife. I got mine from the dollar store for, well, just a dollar.

We went to the Real Canadian Superstore to buy some fresh oysters. We bought the larger ones. They come in a bag of six and costs $5.99. Oysters can be eaten in many ways, including raw!

Soo Singapore Jerky is the most famous (and probably the only one) chinese Bak Kwa manufacturer in Vancouver. They have a factory just a few blocks away from our home in Richmond. They sell their product throughout Canada and some states in the US.
