Toll House Milk Chocolate Frosting

The Toll House Milk Chocolate Frosting is ultra chocolaty, rich and sweet.  This is great for occasional indulgence but not for the every day consumption.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 6 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

IMG_0102.jpgCombine the chocolate chips, butter and salt in a medium microwave-safe bowl.
IMG_0109.jpgMicrowave the mixture on Medium-high (70%) power for 1 minutes, stir.  The morsels may retain some of their original shape.  If necessary, microwave at additional 10-15 seconds intervals, (to prevent burning of the chocolate) stirring just until smooth.  Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate on a hot water bath.
IMG_0119.jpgTransfer the mixture to a large mixer bowl. Stir in the vanilla extract.  Gradually beat in the sugar, alternating with the milk until you get a smooth frosting.

Karen, thank you for sharing the recipes and all the baking tips.

  1. Cat would love this frosting. I don’t know if she’d even bother putting it on a cupcake.

  2. Where is the previous / next page links? I love your site :) — Definitely a food guy!

  3. Hi Ivan:
Now that you mention this … duh … we don’t have a prev/next link on the blog. I guess you could just as easily check previous postings on the archives link on the right sidebar. They are sorted by months though.
    Hope this helps.
    Ben

  4. Seems like a fairly simple recipe, I will be sure to try it!
