Mmm..Amish food..yumm! I'm actually thinking about going to Lancaster tomorrow to go to the amazing Shady Maple Smorgasbord. It's a buffet of great Amish food, and you can't go wrong with trying everything they have to offer. I generally go for breakfast early in the morning.

One of the things I like most about Lancaster is the drive up there & being able to see the Amish life from the outside. From my neck of the woods, I take a lot of small back roads, and it's so refreshing to get a change in scenery.

Hope you enjoyed Lancaster!

Hi Jessica:
Guess what? The day you commented about the nutritional value of cauliflower, I came home from work and found cauliflower on the dining table!

Hi Joseph:
That thought occurred to me too. That is why I think the Plain and Fancy farm is not owned by Amishes.

I have a question, the Amish do not like to have their pictures taken, correct? Then, why did they put an Amish lady on that big advertising board?

Cauliflower does have great nutritional value:

Cauliflower is low in fat, high in dietary fiber, folate, water and vitamin C, possessing a very high nutritional density. As a member of the brassica family, cauliflower shares with broccoli and cabbage several phytochemicals which are beneficial to human health, including sulforaphane, an anti-cancer compound released when cauliflower is chopped or chewed. In addition, the compound indole-3-carbinol, which appears to work as an anti-estrogen, appears to slow or prevent the growth of tumors of the breast and prostate.[7] Cauliflower also contains other glucosinolates besides sulfurophane, substances which may improve the liver's ability to detoxify carcinogenic substances.[8] A high intake of cauliflower has been found to reduce the risk of aggressive prostate cancer.[9] - wikipedia

And, it's really tasty if it's served with broccoli and cheese sauce! :-)
