In the Gilmore Park Church Community Kitchen, Minoo demonstrated two recipes. The first recipe is Creamy Bow-ties with Brocoli and Ham.

This creamy pasta dish is simple to prepare and it has vegetable and meat in it to make a complete meal. This recipe is taken from eat well and it serves 4.
Ingredients
- 12 oz bow-tie (farfalle) pasta
- 12 oz broccoli (1 bunch), cut into florets
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 cup half-and-half
- 1/4 teaspoon salt and peppr
- 8 oz cooked ham, cut into cubes

Instructions
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add a drizzle of oil so that the pasta wont stick. |
Add pasta and cook as package instructions. |
Prepare broccoli and ham. |
Add broccoli to water the last 3 minutes of cooking. |
Meanwhile, heat butter in a medium skillet over medium high heat until melted. |
Add onion; saute for 4 minutes or until soft. |
Add half-and-half. |
Season with salt and pepper; simmer, uncovered, for 3 minutes or until slightly thickened. |
Add ham, cover and cook until heated through, about 1 to 2 minutes. |
Reserve about 1 cup of cooking water before draining the pasta and broccoli. |
Add sauce into drained pasta and toss well. Add a little pasta water to thin sauce if it too dry. |

I was always told not to add oil to pasta, as the sauce won’t stick on as well.
