Appetizers for Lunch

Of late, this is what I am so addicted to.

But I am not gonna tell you where I had this. I want to see if any of you can make a good guess.

This is called Pork Slices in Garlic Spicy Sauce. Or at least I think this is what it is called. I had this so many times, I am not sure anymore.

The waitress already know me and she knows that I order this ALL THE TIME. What I am sure is that it is called #7. Every time I walked in, I just smiled at her and just say “#7 and 1 bowl of rice”.

For some reason they don’t … have it everyday. Once I went and they did not have it. It pretty much ruined my day. LOL!

This is an item on the appetizer section of the menu, not the pork section. I think they put this in the appetizer menu because it is pre-cooked and requires only assembly when ordered. But the amount of pork slice they have on the plate is more than double what I need for lunch.

And yet this is only $7.50. Cheap huh?

Ask them to make it spicy. The raw garlic adds to the kick. The spicy-vinegarish jhup is absolutely delicious.

The only downside is that people avoid me after I have this for lunch. You just gotta try this.

Anyone can guess where I had this? [I have a feeling some of you will know ...]

Golden Szechuan Restaurant ~~ Am I right?!
I love this dish too… delicious

Hi Jo: I am impressed with your answer but the answer is wrong. You got it right though that Golden Szechuan (in Richmond) also had the same dish. The one in Golden Szechuan are served differently but in essence it is the same dish. Here are the pictures of that same dish we had in Golden Szechuan Restaurant just to induce drooling to all:

For those of you who want to read that post of Golden Szechuan, here is the link.

It looks so good!! And judging from your tags, there’s a possibility I can have it for lunch too today! =P Where is it from?

Wow that looks SO GOOD, Ben.

Funny all those years I worked at Metrotown, I never went to S&W Pepper House :-(

Hope they provide (lots of) breath mints afterward ;-)

I’ve been to S&W sooo many times!! Why haven’t I noticed this??? Definitely making another visit very soon…thanks, Ben!

Had this version at No. 1 BNH. Doesn’t look nearly as good, tho.

      Hey Karl:

Yeah, I think not many notice this is because this item is stuck at the appetizer section of the menu where you do not expect. There is another quite similarly named dish on the pork section which is the “shredded pork …” version. Don’t go for that. You want the “sliced pork …” one.

Ahh … about the 1BNH version, the sauce looks like the oyster omelette type of sauce (i.e. not spicy and tomato’ish) Is that right?

      Ben

I will have to go try this next time I go to Crystal Mall. I’m addicted to the mango shave ice from that shave ice place.

Great to see a post from you! Lucky we have Suanna to fill the void. Hope work is treating you well. :-)
