Ava made two types of icing for her Chocolate Cupcakes.
The first icing is Green Tea Icing.
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 4 tablespoons whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons matcha powder
- 5 to 6 cups icing sugar, sifted
P/S: ignore the Icing Color bottle; we did not use it.
Prep time: 10 minutes; Serve 24 cupcakes
Combine matcha powder with whipping cream and mix into a paste; set aside.
Beat butter briefly in a bowl. Sift the icing sugar into the butter.
Add the matcha paste.
Beat until smooth. Use a piping bag to decorate the cupcakes.

Hi Polly, if I remembered clearly, we were using the larger star tip.

That frosting is such a vibrant color! So enticing.
That has got to be the most gorgeous picture of a chocolate and green tea cupcake I’ve ever seen! It’s a good thing I’ve got matcha powder on hand or I’ll be dreaming of these all week 😆
I was just wondering what type of matcha powder you were using, what brand?
Hi lottie, the one in the photo is Ujinotsuyu – Matcha Hagoroma green tea powder.
Hi, could u share where did u buy the matcha powder?
I bought it from Super Grocer at 12051 No. 1 Road, Richmond. I’m sure you can find it in many groceries stores.
5 to 6 cups of icing sugar, can I get it in grams?
