Disclosure: One of the drink is complementary.
It is our last cake meet before the spring break. Polly and I have wanted to visit Nikkoffee which opened since December 2010 since we resumed our cake meet recently. From it’s website, it’s opening time should be very early, 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM. However, on a couple of times that we wanted to visit this place, it was not open despite it’s already 10:00 AM.
We did not plan to come to Nikkoffee on this day. We actually went to What8ever Cafe first around 11:30 AM as it’s website indicated that’s the opening hour. When we were there, the server inside the cafe told us they will not be ready until 12:30PM. What’s wrong with these places. If they do not plan to open that early, they should have update their website so that people don’t get disappointed. Well, we decided to go to Costco first for some groceries shopping and give Nikkoffee another shot since it will be past 12:00 PM by then and this time, it’s open. Nikkoffee is located on No. 3 Road and Anderson Road, just across the Richmond City Hall. Parking is available at the rear of the building.
Nikoffee is decorated with white picket fence laced with artificial flower vines. It has a romantic atmosphere.

Nikkoffee serves Asian flavour infused …western food as the server described to us. The menu is still under fine tuning as they continue to add new items based on customers feedback. Nikkoffee menu includes soup, salad, sandwiches, cheesecakes, coffee, cafe, hot tea, bubble tea, milk tea and nikkoccinos.
Nikkoccino is their signature drink. This is a complementary drink from Nikkoffee as the server wanted us to try their signature drink. This was served to us at the end of our meal.
What is unique about the Nikkoccinos is the salted top of cream. It has a savory creamy texture while the tea at the bottom creates a great contrast of texture and flavour. The server told us that we should not stir the drink. We are supposed to take a sip of the salted top and then a sip of the tea to get the contract of texture and flavour.
The Nikkoccinos is definitely worth a try. For $3.75, you get a 16oz glass.
The above is my order of drink which is not on the menu yet. It is a new drink and they have not confirmed on the English name of the drink yet but for now, they call it Bon Bon Milk. It is a slush made with milk, pudding and honey. I was very surprised at the size of the glass which is a 16oz glass. So, I asked the server for an empty glass so that I can share it with Polly. But the server is kind enough to give Polly a small glass of the drink.
The Bon Bon Milk has a hint of saltiness in it too. I like the hint of saltiness which brings out the other flavours of the drink. Besides pudding, you can have a choice of glass jelly or almond.
Polly had a cup of Mint Chocolate Latte. It has a strong mint flavour. This latte is part of the combo sandwich which we ordered. It’s $2.00 extra for this latte. Other options include $2.50 for soup of the day (regular price for soup is $4.50), $1 extra for tea or coffee and $2 extra for bubble tea or coffee.
We had the Lemon Seasoned Chicken Sandwich for $5.50. It was one of the more popular sandwich as recommended by the server.
The sandwich is made up of 3 layers of toasted bread sandwiching a layer of Lemon Seasoned Chicken and another layer of fresh greens, tomato and cheese. The bread is spread with light mayo. The sandwich is accompanied with a side of cold pasta salad which has some kind of ham, raisins and sunflower seeds. The plate is garnished with some green herbs.
We actually ordered a Matcha Cheesecake but the server told us that he made a mistake as they did not have Matcha Cheesecake that day and instead gave us a Matcha Tiramisu. We accepted that because we have not tried Matcha Tiramisu before as tiramisu is usually associated with coffee. It has a nice green tea flavour but the green tea powder on top of the tiramisu gives a bitter after taste.
The total bill came to $20 before tips. This place accepts cash only.
On my way out, I noticed a promotion notice on the door on take out until end of March. The take out special looks like a good deal.
I’ve been wanting to try this place too! This corner has seen the deaths of many restaurants/cafes; hopefully this place will stick around for awhile.
One of the main attractions of this place is the cosplaying waitresses, like the ones in Magnetic Cafe, formerly known as Go Go Tea Cafe. I am surprised you didnt mention about that. I guess the waitress didn’t dress up when you were there.
Oh!, we did not see such waitresses because we were there in the afternoon. There is only a waiter preparing and serving that afternoon.
I think one of the problems that businesses at this location experience is parking.. and usually the people passing by on foot are usually on their way to or from the bus stop. Having said that though the sandwich does look pretty good and seems reasonably priced!
Bakeries that don’t open until 11 or 12 also don’t make sense to me. They’re missing out on money!
I dont think they are a bakery.
It says its a Tea Cafe on the banner. Thier website says thier desserts (Cheesecakes, Tiramisus, etc) are baked in store.
Sounds to me they are similar to Cheesecake Etc in Vancouver but conviniently in Richmond with also what sounds like better Beverages. That Nikkoccinno sounds very interesting.
It is actually a great place for studying and to sit and do nothing. My friends and i havee been going there for the past 4 days to butter up for our coming finals…><.. the staff sure is friendly, and yes~ Hurray for nikkoccino!!!
they recently introduced crepes with your choice of toppings, havnt try it, but someone else sitting near me did~ she looked happy
and i like happy food~
I was surprised that their coffee was pretty good. I had the Hazelnut Latte and my friend had the Cappuccino. Coffee lovers should definitely give this place a try. I hope this place stays around as it’s predecessors weren’t able to survive at this location. I will definitely go back.
