At last, we reached our destination; Paradise on the south slope of Mount Ranier.
Paradise in a popular destination and parking was difficult; We only found parking a long way down the road. But the view of the valley with residue of snow on the slope was spectacular.
More snow…
We walked past several water falls just from where we parked our car to the visitor center.
We watched a short film (21 minutes) on Mount Ranier at the visitor center. The above was a model of Mount Ranier in the visitor center. As visitors are encouraged to touch it, the summit was well polished.
Wild flowers on the meadow.
Unfortunately, the meadow is not at it’s full bloom yet. It is still early in the season for the meadow to be on it’s full glory.
We decided to go on a moderate hike (Dead Horse Creek Trail) which supposed to take slightly over 1 hour. The trail is 2.3 miles with 600 feet elevation. But our hike was shortened by the ice on the path. We decided to turn back because the icy path was too slippery to walk on.
Melting ice forms an icy stream.
