Landa, a friend from the Richmond Community Kitchen, invited Lorna and me to attend a Christmas Celebration at her church, Richmond Chinese Evangelical Free Church.
The theme of the celebration is about the true meaning of Christmas, i.e. the birth of Jesus Christ.
The program started with the performance by a choir of young and adults. They sang about the story of the birth of Christ.
Then, dinner is served; roast turkey, ham, mash potatoes, sweet corn and pineapple. The members of the church made the delicious dinner. Various cookies were served as dessert.
The highlight of the night was the performance of “Hung Hung”, the daughter of the late famous Cantonese opera legend, “Hung Sin Nui“. She led the choir on some Cantonese opera style song of praise and she also performed solo. I’m so lucky to sit a the table right in front of the stage to watch her performance close up.
Other programs of the night included scavenger hunt conducted by Landa’s son, Ken and also the most anticipated lucky draws. I was lucky this time to have my number drawn.
Landa, thank you so much for inviting us to a wonderful Christmas Celebration.
