I met up with Polly and Whitney in Gastown for a get together. It was a rainy day again just like the past couple of our get together.
Since, it was raining, we did not go far from where Whitney works. We had dinner at Water St. Cafe.
We started off with an appetizer of Calamari Fritti as recommended by Whitney. These were light and crispy and served with garlic aioli and preserved orange.
Complementary warm bread with good crust.
Since we like to share our dishes, Whitney also recommended the Rigatoni with Italian Sausage. The Italian Sausage has some spiciness in it. This is served with some shaved fennel and grated Parmesan and freshly ground black pepper.
Our server recommended the House Made Gnocchi with is good for sharing. These potato dumplings were served with fresh herbs, sauteed mushrooms, scallions, shaved Parmesan and truffle oil with has a rich taste to it. I like it.
Our last sharing main dish was Pan Seared Parmesan Crusted Breast of Chicken.
The Chicken was served over a bed of mixed mushrooms, roast baby potatoes, grilled red pepper, baby carrots and green beans. It is served with a natural jus white wine cream sauce.
The food is good and the company is better. We were too full to have dessert. We missed Angie this time and we’ll try to arrange for another meeting next month with Angie.
