Ben wanted the family hot pot for lunch. We had this Shanghainese dish at The Place Restaurant on Granville Street a while ago.
It looks like The Place Restaurant has changed into a Sichuan Restaurant.
The restaurant has a fresh coat of paint but the tables and chairs still look the same; especially the chair covers.
The menu has some photos of the dishes.
Simple table setting.
We had an appetizer and two dishes to go with steamed rice.
The appetizer is the Steamed Chicken with Chili Sauce, also known as Saliva Chicken. This is $7.99. A cold and spicy chicken dish.
Cumin Lamb was fried with onions, green and red sweet pepper. This dish is $13.99. It’s an ok dish.
The Mah Poh Tofu was quite bland. It is $9.99.
This restaurant accepts cash only.
Overall, the food was just so, so considering its price point.
