2017 Honda Celebration of Light – Japan

My family used to go for the fireworks competitions in Vancouver every summer at Kits Beach when our boys were still young. We have not been back for a few years since our boys have grown up. Nowadays, Nanzaro will go watch it with his friends and Arkensen is not interested anymore.

Ben was lucky to find a free parking on a side street at W 5th ave and Burrard St. We walked over the Burrard St. Bridge to go the English Bay. From the Burrard St. Bridge, we could see leisure boats sailing towards the barge for the fireworks.

Breakfast at AAA Restaurant on Alexandra Road, Richmond

Ben and I went out for breakfast on a Saturday morning.

We revisited AAA Restaurant for breakfast. It was very busy, just like Lido.

I only ordered the Pineapple Bun since I’m not hungry. It was as good as Lido’s and is served hot from the oven.

Both of us had hot milk tea.

Ben ordered the Satay Beef with instant noodle.

The instant noodle option had a 50cents upcharge. Ben’s order came with a free hot drink.

Ben actually wanted a combo meal which comes with egg but the menus on were all in Chinese. When we asked for an English menu, we were only given the standard menu without the combo version.

This is a Cash only place.

Scorpio’s M Dessert on Alexandra Road, Richmond

Updated: 26 Jul 2017: This restaurant had been replaced by Miss Lina Crepe Cakes.

After dinner, we walked over to the Central at Garden City to do some exploration on what’s new there.

Then we returned to Alexandra Road to look for a dessert place. We ended up at Scorpio’s M Dessert which opens from 3PM to midnight.

The interior looks nice with the high back chairs.

Ben just wanted a drink from the thirstiness he experienced from Midam Cafe. He had a Mango Soda which he said helps to quench his thirst. Continue reading

King’s Chinese Cuisine on Main Street, Vancouver

After our walk at Queen Elizabeth Park, we went for breakfast.

We came upon King’s Chinese Cuisine as we turned out to Main Street. So, we had dim sum here.

The place was quite busy. We waited quite a while before our orders arrived. The above was Steamed Custard & Egg Yolk Buns. I like the sweet and savory taste of the filings. Regular dim sum (big, medium and small) is $3.38.

Just be careful biting into them as the filings can be very hot. Continue reading

Tour De Gastown 2017

Ben had a workshop to attend in the evening in downtown. Coincidentally, it was on the day of the Tour de Gastown. I went downtown with him via the Canada Line to catch a glimpse of the bicycle race. I enjoyed watching the Tour de France in July as I love to see the scenery and the historical buildings along the way.

It’s my first time to watch our own Vancouver bicycle race.

The thing about the Tour de Gastown is the riders just go round and round gas town.

The best seat at a restaurant over looking the route of the Tour de Gastown.

It’s very difficult to get a good shot as the riders were riding past so fast. Continue reading

Queen Elizabeth Park in Spring

Nanzaro participated in the BMO Marathon for the second time.

The start of the race was adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth Park. After seeing him off the run, Ben and I had our morning walk at the Queen Elizabeth Park.

Queen Elizabeth Park puts on a new look in spring. Here are some of the views in QE Park.
