Octopus House in Crystal Mall, Burnaby

Since Ben and I attend church near Burnaby, we often take the opportunity to have lunch in Burnaby.

One of our favourite place is the Crystal Mall. For this occasion, Ben decided to try the “Cold Noodle” from Octopus House in the market area.

It looks healthy with a lot of vegetables, :-).

It’s a take out place. We intended to bring it to the food court to eat. I’m sure we are not supposed to bring outside food to the food court. So, Ben bought another item from the food court. Continue reading

Le Petit Saigon at East Hastings, Vancouver

Ben and I had dinner at the Le Petit Saigon on East Hastings on the day we went to the PNE.

Le Petit Saigon was quite busy on a Friday night. We also noticed quite a number of take out orders.

We ordered two items to share. The first item was Grilled Beef and BBQ Minced Pork over Vermicelli. We enjoy this Asian style salad. Continue reading

PNE 2018 – Part 2

We continued our adventure at the PNE at the Action Sports World Tour at the Pacific Coliseum.

It’s a show of professional skateboarders and BMX riders performing aerial stunts on a state-of-the-art half-pipe.

Then we continued to Rollerland for the Popnology Exhibit. There was a robotic demonstration.

A scary alien sculpture.

The world first life-size 3D-printer car. Continue reading

PNE 2018 – Part 1

Ben and I went to PNE on a Friday to avoid the crowds on weekend.

We were there at noon, so we decided to grab a bite first. We wanted to try a new item this year, which is the Deep Fried Burger.

The Deep Fried Burger was juicy and it had cheese and ketcup in it. The burger was CAD12.

After eating, we went to watch the 1PM show of Knights of Valour, a medieval event where knights competing in jousting at the Agrodome. This is a new event this year.  Continue reading

Tin Tin Seafood Harbour Restaurant on No. 3 Road, Richmond

I had the opportunity to attend praise dance in the summer.

For this last occasion for me, I joined the group for dim sum after praise dance. This particular group always go out for dim sum after the praise dance to get to know one another better.

We went to Tin Tin Seafood Harbour Restaurant this time. The organizer had reserved two tables. This place was full house and we had to wait a few minutes as one of our table was not ready yet.

Tin Tin Seafood Harbour Restaurant does not charge for tea which is a good thing.

One of the lady took charge to order as the rest of the group were busy chatting. The above is Spicy XO Sauce Rice Noodle with Shrimp. This was really good.

We ordered three servings of the Eggplant with Shrimp Paste as one of the lady suggested not to cut them into smaller pieces. Continue reading

Duffin’s Donut on E 41st Ave, Vancouver

Ben and I went to Duffin’s donuts for a light lunch after church service on a Sunday.

Duffin’s donut is a Vancouver iconic restaurant serving donuts, sandwich and fritou chicken. The Chinese food section had closed though.

We did not have the fritou chicken this time as we just wanted something light.

There is a lot of options for sandwich. Customer orders and pays at the counter and wait for their number to be called to collect the food. Continue reading

BT Cafe on Kingsway, Vancouver

Ben and I visited BT Cafe for dinner on a week day when we were in the neighborhood to run errands.

It’s been a long time since we came back to this restaurant. Even the banner has aged.

It was not too busy around 6:30PM. We noticed that the server knows the customers well from their conversation. They must be regulars and live the neighbuorhood.

Ben ordered his comfort dish; Egg Swirl Rice Noodle. This dish tasted right on the spot and the serving is quite big; enough for both of us to share. Continue reading

WOW Thai Food in International Village Foodcourt, Chinatown Vancouver

Ben and I was in downtown Vancouver for an appointment. We had parked our car in a free parking zone with 2 hours parking limit. We do not have enough time to eat in downtown as we had to make it back to our parking spot with only 30 minutes left.

So, Ben decided to drive to Chinatown and eat in the International Village foodcourt.

There are a Thai seat in restaurant and two Thai stalls in the foodcourt. Ben picked the WOW Thai Food in the foodcourt as we just want to share a dish since we are not too hungry.

We ordered the Phad Thai to try. We opted chicken for the meat and had the spicy version. There were generous amount of chicken meat in it. It had a hint of tanginess and the noodles are slightly moist. We enjoyed it.

Kingspark Steak House at Westminster Hwy, Richmond

My family went out for dinner on a Sunday evening. When Ben asked what we would like to eat, everyone’s answer was “anything”. I’m sure Ben is frustrated with such answer as no one wants to take charge. Is this a common problem?

So, Ben had to decide again. He drove to Kingspark Steak House and we found a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. Perhaps, it was still early, just around 5PM. Parking has not been easy in this part of the strip mall.

Nanzaro ordered the XO Sauce Seafood Fried Rice. The serving was not as big as those we get from Enjoy Café 1+1.

I shared an order with Ben. We had the Seafood Chow Mien. This dish was rather disappointing. The sauce looked like glue. We will not order this dish again. The serving was also rather small. Continue reading
