Master Jia Braised Food at Crystal Mall Foodcourt, Burnaby

Crystal Mall foodcourt is our favourite place to have an early lunch after church service. We attended the early service which ends around 10:30am. We usually have coffee after the church service in the church before we head out to Crystal Mall.

We arrive at the food court just after 11:00 am. It is just perfect timing before the rush lunch hour. Getting a seat is a problem at all at this time.

We decided to try the Master Jia Braised Food instead of our favourite spicy noodle from Chao Shou Wang.

Ben got the Spicy Pork Feet to share. I think it is $12. There is generous portion of pork which has a hint of spiciness. The item beside the pork is tofu puff. (more…)

Farewell Dinner at Trattoria Italian Kitchen, Burnaby

My boss bought a farewell dinner for one of our team member who resigned. It is sad to loose a colleague but we want to share a memorable farewell.

We had the farewell dinner at Trattoria Italian Kitchen, across Metrotown in Burnaby. It was recommended by one of our colleague who recently dined there with some of her friends visiting Vancouver.

Trattoria Italian Kitchen is known for it’s house pasta and pizza. In the photo above, you can see the pizza oven which is located near the entrance.

Complementary sourdough bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip.

Some of us ordered some virgin cocktails for our drink. The above was some green tea with mint ordered by colleague. (more…)

Healthy Soyfoods in Crystal Mall

Ben and I often go to Crystal Mall for lunch after church service as we love the ethnic food in the foodcourt.

We love this Healthy Soyfoods stall on the ground floor at the market place. There is a line most of the time.

The soy pudding came in a huge pot.

The above is the savoury version i.e. gravy with egg and mushroom. This tub is $2. We enjoy every drop of it. The soy pudding was silky smooth. (more…)

Fraser Park Restaurant on Byrne Road, Burnaby

Nanzaro treated the family with a German brunch.

Fraser Park Restaurant is located at an unassuming warehouse park at Byrne Road. It was very busy when we arrived around 11:30AM on a Saturday. Sharing table is a norm here.

Ben and I shared a German breakfast as the serving is big. It is a bed of hash brown topped with 3 eggs scrambled with sauteed onions, peppers and cheese. On top of that, there is sausage and generous amount of bacon and ham.

The German breakfast also comes with 2 toasts of your choice and a piece of fruit. (more…)

Octopus House in Crystal Mall, Burnaby

Since Ben and I attend church near Burnaby, we often take the opportunity to have lunch in Burnaby.

One of our favourite place is the Crystal Mall. For this occasion, Ben decided to try the “Cold Noodle” from Octopus House in the market area.

It looks healthy with a lot of vegetables, :-).

It’s a take out place. We intended to bring it to the food court to eat. I’m sure we are not supposed to bring outside food to the food court. So, Ben bought another item from the food court. (more…)

Chef Rong Noodle House in Crystal Mall Food Court, Burnaby

When in Burnaby, our favourite place to eat out is Crystal Mall. The food court has many stalls that we like; e.g. Ipoh Beansprouts, Bubble Waffle Café, Chao Shou Wang, etc.

On this trip, we discovered a new stall, Chef Rong Noodle House. The noodle stall shared the space with a lady who sells Chinese style wrap.

Ben and I ordered two items to share. The above is called Zunyi Tofu Pudding Noodle.

We find that the addition of the tofu pudding was not necessary. (more…)

Sunshine Cafe in Crystall Mall, Burnaby

Ben and I went to Crystal Mall for lunch after church service on a Sunday afternoon.

We decided to try the above Taiwanese cafe called Sunshine Cafe.

We picked this cafe because we knew that the foodcourt will be packed at this hour. It will be very difficult to find a table during peak lunch hour.

I ordered the Hot Pot with lamb. It came on a small burner to keep the broth warm.  (more…)

Angie's Malaysian on Edmonds St., Burnaby

Ben and I were in the New Westminster area to run some errand and he decided to bring me to Angie’s Malaysian Eatery for lunch as I have not been here before.

Angie’s Malaysian Eatery is a short walk from the Edmonds Community Center. There are some high rise constructions right across this street mall. I’m sure the future prospect will be good when the buildings are fully occupied.

We arrived at an empty restaurant at noon.

The cute thing about this restaurant is that their decoration include pictures of the menu, literally photo prints. They even handed a stack of them to us together with a one page menu.

We ordered the Seria Kolomee. This is one of the popular dish from Brunei as I overheard the conversation between the lady at the counter and a customer who came in for take out. It is a dry mixed flat noodle (meepoh) served with BBQ pork, fish cake, blanch green and fried shallots. (more…)
