Penang Delight Cafe, Marpole

My family went to Penang Delight Cafe for a Malaysian lunch on a weekend.

We arrived a few minutes before the opening time and waited for the open sign to be flipped over.

Obviously, we were their first customers of the day. One thing that Arkensen does not about the place is the seat which are wooden benches lined with cushion. He said the seating is not comfy.

Ben in-charged of ordering the food. The first item was Prawn Mee with mix noodles, i.e. it comes with vermicelli and oil noodle. Having mix noodles is common in Malaysia but Arkensen finds it odd. (more…)

Caffe Artigiano Yaletown, Vancouver

After lunch, we walked around the neighbourhood to look for a place for coffee. We walked up and down the street only to find Blenz and Starbucks. But Whitney would prefer something else.

img_0416

We walked further and found Caffe Artigiano on Davie Street.

img_0411

The place was small, with a few small round tables.

Angie bought us the coffee, thank you Angie. (more…)

The Flying Pig in Yaletown, Vancouver

Whitney organized a gathering for Angie (seasaltwithfood.com), Polly and I in late October.

img_0410

We went to The Flying Pig in Yaletown for the convenience of all.

img_0398

Polly and I arrived early at 11:10AM. We were their first customers of the day.

img_0401

The server brought some complimentary bread with butter while we waited for everyone to arrive.

img_0403

Angie ordered a Chopped House Salad. It came in a big plate with free range chicken, tomatoes, cucumber, eggs, avocado, bacon and iceberg lettuce. She asked for a vinaigrette dressing instead of the ranch or blue cheese dressing on the menu. (more…)

Corner 23 on Cambie St., Vancouver

After the walk at QE Park, Ben suggested to take the Canada Line to downtown since the day is still early.

IMG_9456

Canada Place was buzzing with tourists as there were 2 cruise ships at the dock.

IMG_9439

These cruise ships are huge, like an apartment block.

After exploring the downtown, we took the Canada Line back to Cambie where we parked our car.

We decided to have dinner at Corner 23 just across the King Edward station.

Buffet Lunch at Tibisti Grill on Victoria Dr, Vancouver

On a Friday afternoon, Ben came home to pick up an old notebook to return to the office. I accompanied him and we had lunch on the way.

IMG_9355

It’s been a long while since we had Lebanese food. We stopped at Tibisti Grill to have the lunch buffet.

IMG_9353

It looks like Tibisti Grill had a face lift. It looks better now.

IMG_9345

I started off with some salad and appetizers. (more…)

My Chau on Kingsway, Vancouver

After our walk and groceries shopping, Ben suggested to go to My Chau for lunch.

IMG_9313

We wanted something light as we were not really hungry after the breakfast at Kingspark Good Food.

IMG_9303

I like the cutlery holder at the table. There is even a small compartment for toothpick.

IMG_9307

We shared two small noodles. The first was Special Chicken Noodle with chicken, liver, gizzard, quail egg and chicken ball. The size is just right for us. (more…)

Honolulu Cafe on Kingsway, Vancouver

Ben wanted to go to Central Park for our morning walk on a weekend. We went out early like before 8:00AM. At this early hour, there seems to be very little choice of breakfast place.

The only place we found was Honolulu Cafe on Kingsway. The restaurant looks really dated. It was a quiet morning as I overheard a server chitchatted  with a regular customer.

Ben ordered a Congee Combo. He had the Fish and Liver Congee, a not so common combination. We like the combination though. The congee was already flavoured, so no extra condiment required.

The soy sauce fried noodle which Ben picked for his combo was more moist than other places. Ben said the congee and noodle is better than Happy Date Bakery and Restaurant in Richmond. (more…)

Faubourg on West 41st, Vancouver

After the dim sum at Neptune Seafood Restaurant in Surrey, Polly and I went over to Burnaby as Polly had to run an errand there. On the way back to Richmond from Burnaby, Polly decided to go to Faubourg for tea break as she still had some time to kill before picking her daughters up from tuition after school.

IMG_8816

Faubourgh is one of the best cake meet place that Polly and I enjoy. The little cakes are very pretty but quite costly.

IMG_8815

We saw the above sign on the way in and smoothies is just perfect for a warm late spring afternoon.

IMG_8808

We shared two desserts. The above was something green tea and passion fruit. It is $5.95. (more…)
