KL 2017 Birthday Celebration at Tao Cuisine

This year is my father’s 80th birthday. We decided to celebrate it in buffet style at Tao Cuisine.

Tao Cuisine is located in Sunway Giza Shopping Mall at Kota Damansara. There was a lion dance performance at the lobby about noon time. We decided to watch the performance first before going to the restaurant.

Tao Cuisine offers All You Can Eat with full table service, i.e. you can get food from the buffet and also order your food from the menu.

The above are some of the food offered on the buffet table. (more…)

KL 2017 168 Pan Mee

After breakfast, we strolled in Ikea, mostly window shopping. Then we walked over to Ikano Power Center and also checked out Curves. But the open air concept in Curves was not pleasant to me as it was hot and humid.

After all the walking and sweating, we felt hungry again. My sister in law brought me to Desa Aman Puri for a late lunch. We went to 168 Pan Mee. Despite that it was already late lunch hour, the place is full.

We had the soup version of Pan Mee. The difference of the pan mee here from others is that they don’t have fried anchovies.

I like the texture of the hand torn noodle, with irregular thickness.

We had iced “Suen Mui Kat” (lime juice with sour plum) for our drink.

KL 2017 Hawker’s Meal 10

My father brought me back to our old home in Taman Sri Sinar to have a look.

We had dinner there as there are a lot of eateries there. We had Barley water for our drinks. RM3.20 (about CAD1) for two glasses.

There is a Satay stall there, cooking satay on charcoal fire.

There is also a grilled chicken wing stall, also with charcoal. (more…)

KL 2017 Dave’s Bistro Bar Grill

I met up with my ex-boss and ex-colleague in 1Utama Shopping Center on a Friday afternoon.

My ex-boss suggested western food because he was tired of Chinese New Year food. We had lunch at Dave’s Bistro Bar Grill.

We started off with Dave’s signature Caesar Salad with lots of bacon bits. It was quite a big serving at RM29.50 (about CAD9).

Then we had a Hawaiian Pizza with streaky bacon. The regular size is RM37 (about CAD12). (more…)

KL 2017 Hawker’s Meal 9

I had a simple brunch of dried meat sandwich at home. During Chinese New Year, a lot of people buy dried meat as gift.

The sandwich is a pretty handy meal. It’s easily transportable without messiness and the bread will not get soggy. You can even assemble the sandwich only when you want to eat it because nowadays, the dried meat is mostly  pack individually for freshness.

For dinner, I had a dried version of Pan Mee. It is RM6.50 (about CAD2).

Since I ordered the dried version, the broth came on the side. (more…)

KL 2017 Tea Garden

I met up with another ex classmate after 36 years of losing contact. We were school mates from primary school to high school.

She and her husband brought me back to my old home town, Ayer Panas, Setapak. The above pool is a natural hot spring where the town name originates. The hot spring was once a public pool. Now it belongs to a residence complex. The public can still access the pool with a small fee, RM 1 for soaking your legs and RM 2 for taking a bath.

We also visited our schools. There is not much change to the primary and high school. However, we were amazed by the growth of our secondary schools as there is a 7 stories new block now.

After touring the schools, my ex classmate brought me to Tea Garden on Jalan Genting Klang for late lunch.

We had some dim sum here. Fried Taro Cake. (more…)
