Qin Ma Grill on Kingsway, Burnaby

Ben and I went to Burnaby for a walk on the last day of the holiday season before works resume.

We had lunch at Qin Ma Grill across the Real Canadian Superstore in Metrotown.

I like the huge poster on the wall depicting a hawker style stall.

Ben ordered a small Mala Soup Bowl for $13.99. The small bowl allow 3 choices of meat and 2 choices of veggies. Ben choice was lamb, pork belly and beef tripe with potatoes and bean curd. (more…)

Hi Genki at Nikkei Home, Burnaby

Ben brought me to Hi Genki at the Nikkei House for lunch on his day off work.

We were there before noon and was lucky to get the last table without wait. A line quickly form after that.

Kingspark Good Food in Crystal Mall Foodcourt, Burnaby

It’s difficult to find a place for breakfast early morning. Ben and I were to Metrotown on a weekend for our morning walk. Ben managed to find an entrance to the Crystal Mall before 9:00AM. The entrance to the market area is opened earlier than 9:00AM while other entrances will not be opened until 9:00AM.

We had breakfast at the Crystal Mall foodcourt. Only a few stalls were opened at this early hour. We went to one of the Hong Kong style place.

Dae Ji Cutlet House in Metrotown, Burnaby

Ben brought Arkensen to Metrotown for dinner to show him the Pokemon Go hot spot. It was unbelievable to see so many people at one spot playing the game.

We walked across the hot spot to have dinner at Dae Ji Cutlet House. It is a relatively new restaurant.

Cheng Du Spicy Restaurant on Kingsway, Burnaby

Ben, Nanzaro and I went to Burnaby for dinner on the eve of Canada Day. Ben was on holiday mood already for the long weekend.

We went to this new Cheng Du Spicy Restaurant on Kingsway. There is another one in Richmond on Alexandra Road which I had blogged here.

The place was pretty quiet when we were there around 6PM.

Preference Restaurant on Imperial Street, Burnaby

We were in Metrotown for our walk on a weekend as the malls in Richmond do not open early.

After our walk, Ben brought me to Preference Restaurant for lunch.

We arrived just in time when they open at 11:30AM.

It offers Sichuan and Taiwanese food. The lunch special price is attractive.

We decided to try their lunch special. The above is Spicy Beef Noodle. The noodle is nice with a bit of chewiness. The chunky beef was tender and yet with a little bite to it. (more…)

Au Wing Kee on Kingsway, Burnaby

Nanzaro wanted to get a new pair of running shoes for his marathon. So, he joined Ben and I for our morning walk in Metropolis in Metrotown on a Saturday morning.

After the walk and shop, we went for lunch in the neighbourhood. Ben brought us to one of his favourite lunch spot, Au Wing Kee Restaurant.

I ordered a wonton noodle soup as I saw one of the Chinese restaurant award on the wall for noodle. There were five wontons which were springy. The broth was the right flavour, with seafood taste. (more…)

Kawawa Japanese Ramen in Metropolis at Metrotown, Burnaby

Ben and I were bored walking in the malls in Richmond when the weather does not permit us to walk outside. So, Ben drove to Metrotown instead. In fact, it’s better to walk in Metrotown as it’s bigger, hence we need to walk less rounds to achieve our goal.

After our walk, we looked for a restaurant for lunch. We ended up with Kawawa Japanese Ramen on the upper level of Metropolis. We were there around noon and the restaurant was already full. We were the first in line for the next seating.

We were given the menu while in line and the server took our orders before we got a table.

Ben ordered the Kawawa Ramen which is their signature ramen with miso broth. It is served with 3 pieces of roast porks which are fork tender. There are also beansprout, kimchi, onion slices, egg and seaweed slice. (more…)

Green Bamboo Vietnamese Cuisine at Crystal Mall, Burnaby

During Ben’s Christmas break, we went for long walk at Central Park. After the walk, we went to Metrotown area for lunch.

Ben brought me to Green Bamboo Vietnamese Restaurant. It is one of his occasional lunch spot.

I was enticed to have the above Stewed Duck Leg Egg Noodle which was posted on the wall outside the restaurant. But, unfortunately, this item had been cancelled from the menu.
