A Stroll Along New Westminster Pier Park

On a Saturday cloudy morning, Ben and I went for a walk at the New Westminster Pier Park.

This 2.5km waterfront park connects visitors to the mighty Fraser River with a pleasant Waterfront Esplanade Boardwalk.

Our walk started at some very nice residential area with a view of the Fraser River.

A playground for the residential kids.

The Boardwalk is lined with beautiful spring flower beds. (more…)

QE Park Spring Lights Cherry Blossom Festival

Yesterday, Ben, Nanzaro and I went to the Spring Lights Cherry Blossom Festival at Queen Elizabeth Park.

The Spring Lights Festival was from dusk to dawn. We arrived around 7PM and it was not dark yet. We were very lucky to find a parking spot right away. Traffic was bad when we left the park as there were many cars and people trying to attend this festival despite the rain.

There were three food carts at the festival. One of them was McDonald’s giving away free coffee. The line to the food carts were long. We did not get anything from the food carts as we just had dinner.

We walked around QE Park to wait for the sky to darken in order to enjoy the lights gazing upon the cherry blossoms. (more…)

Langara's "Brown Paper Couture" Exhibit in Oakridge Centre's East Galleria

I was at Oakridge Mall and came upon the Langara’s “Brown Paper Couture” Exhibit in the East Galleria.

This exhibit showcase couture dresses made by local Langara students. The material used include corrugated cardboard, twine, dimpled packaging paper and wrapping paper. The decorations or accessories are made from coffee filters, cupcake papers, strings and thumbtacks. Glue gun and wire are used to stich everything together. What an amazing project.
I remembered seeing such exhibit in the PNE too.

Here are the exhibits for your enjoyment.
