I was invited to the Christmas Celebration Dinner at the Richmond Chinese Evangelical Free Church on No. 5 Road on 13th Dec.
This year, 160 people attended the Christmas Celebration Dinner.
The dinner started with the recognition of immigrants to this great country. For this dinner, there are people who has been here for as short as 6 months to people who has been here for 50 years.
A special gift was also granted to a participant whose birthday falls on 25th December.
The program of the night started with performance of the choir. Angelica voices filled the hall.
Dinner is served. This year, the dinner was catered by a restaurant.
We started with a cream soup and dinner roll.
The main was spaghetti with turkey and ham and steamed vegetables.
The next program was an entertaining sketch which brought a lot of laughter.
Cookies were served while we enjoyed the rest of the programs.
Lucky draw was the most anticipated part of the night. There were 130 plus presents to be drawn with 3 rounds of drawing in between programs in the night. Almost everyone will get a gift. But the greatest gift of the night is the gift of Christ to the world on Christmas day.
Ken was the game co-coordinator who brought some exciting moments to the participants.
Then, songs of hymn filled the air by two young performers who grew up in the church.
The audience were so inspired by the spirit of Christmas from the hymns that some formed a circle around the hall and danced along the hymns.
Then there was the performance of praise dance. Praise dance is choreography of dance and exercise in songs of praise based on Bible verses.
Then more lucky draws. Everyone at my table got a gift. Landa, thank you for inviting me to the event.
