I attended a dinner organized by several of the praise dance groups at the Mui Garden Restaurant on Minoru Boulevard, Richmond.
The dinner was scheduled at 7:15PM. I got a ride from Maria along with two other members. We arrived five minutes before 7:00PM and the parking lot (including the roof parking) was full. We had no choice but to park our car at Richmond Center and take a walk through the shopping mall.
Since we had 40 over people, we were seated at the private room at the back.
Condiments on table include ginger and green onion sauce and chili sauce for their signature Hainanese Chicken dish. There is also some peanuts for snacking.
Carol shared with us some pickled dried plum that she brought back from Taiwan.
One of the organizer, Perry (not sure of the spelling), brought dried chrysanthemum for everyone to have our own chrysanthemum flavoured water. She is health conscious and considerate as she does not want us to have trouble sleeping from drinking Chinese tea at night.
Our dinner started with complementary soup with pork and peanuts.
Next came two servings of Hainanese Chicken.
We had two buckets of rice; plain to go with other dishes while the oil rice goes with the Hainanese Chicken.
The Deep Fried Beef Brisket with Curry goes well with the plain rice.
Pork Chop with Spicy Salt and Hot Pepper.
The Pan Fried Green Bean with Minced Pork was slightly on the oily side.
The Spicy Eggplant with Minced Pork and Salted Fish Hot Pot was undoubtedly a tad salty.
Another hot pot dish that we had was the Braised Rock Cod with Roasted Pork and Deep Fried Tofu.
The beef was tender in the Sliced Beef and Broccoli dish.
Last dish was Choy Sum stir fried with garlic.
The dinner ended with Red Bean Sweet Soup. Maria and I had two bowls as a couple of people at our table did not want it.
It was a great night to get to know other praise dance members and catch up. The meal came to CAD17 per person, including tax and tips.
