2017 Honda Celebration of Light – Japan

My family used to go for the fireworks competitions in Vancouver every summer at Kits Beach when our boys were still young. We have not been back for a few years since our boys have grown up. Nowadays, Nanzaro will go watch it with his friends and Arkensen is not interested anymore.

Ben was lucky to find a free parking on a side street at W 5th ave and Burrard St. We walked over the Burrard St. Bridge to go the English Bay. From the Burrard St. Bridge, we could see leisure boats sailing towards the barge for the fireworks.

Tour De Gastown 2017

Ben had a workshop to attend in the evening in downtown. Coincidentally, it was on the day of the Tour de Gastown. I went downtown with him via the Canada Line to catch a glimpse of the bicycle race. I enjoyed watching the Tour de France in July as I love to see the scenery and the historical buildings along the way.

It’s my first time to watch our own Vancouver bicycle race.

The thing about the Tour de Gastown is the riders just go round and round gas town.

It’s very difficult to get a good shot as the riders were riding past so fast. (more…)

Queen Elizabeth Park in Spring

Nanzaro participated in the BMO Marathon for the second time.

The start of the race was adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth Park. After seeing him off the run, Ben and I had our morning walk at the Queen Elizabeth Park.

Tsawwassen Mills

Ben and I visited the newest mall in British Columbia on its first weekend of debut. We were there early, like just after 9:00AM. We did not have traffic or parking problem when we arrived.

We came to this new mall because we heard that it was of the largest mall in BC. It was a rainy day and we were looking for indoor walking space.

The mall has 1.2 million square feet of retail space and will have 200 retailers.

After the lunch at Hi Genki, we decided to go to the PNE despite of rain in the forecast.

We entered via the Playland entrance. Even though the sky was gloomy, but the Playland was a fun place.

Summer BBQ

Our group of Southeast Asian friends got together for a summer BBQ. It’s sort of a house warming event too.

The star of the BBQ event is beef steak. We had steaks from different sources. Sweet potatoes on the side.

The one in front was from Costco while the one on the back was from local farmer.

Some of the steaks were marinated and some were just seasoned with the Keg’s steak seasonings.
