Royal Seafood Restaurant in Garden City Shopping Centre, Richmond

After the last praise dance on the park organized by the Richmond Chinese Alliance Church which took place at Hugh Boyd Park during the summer, we had a celebration at Royal Seafood Restaurant.

The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor.

The large table is just enough for 16 people, seating tightly.

Since we were there early, before 10AM, we started off with some dim sum items first. The kitchen items are only available after 10:30am.

The above plain rice rolls were very tender.

We had two orders that looked similar. They were Pan Fried Radish Cake and Pan Fried Taro Cake. We had fun dividing the dishes into smaller portion so that everyone can have a taste. It’s fun to add some math element while enjoying our meal.

Rice Roll with Chinese Chinese Donut was easy to divide, just cut each piece into two. (more…)

Sea Fortune Restaurant on Granville Ave, Richmond

Once again, the praise dance group at the South Arm Park went for dim sum after the practice. This is the 2nd last practice in the park. This group belongs to the Success organization and their regular practice place is at the Richmond Public Market, on Thursday morning.

This time, we had dim sum at Sea Fortune Restaurant on Granville Ave and St. Albans Road in Richmond.

Fortune Terrace Chinese Cuisine on River Road, Richmond

During the summer, I joined another praise dance group which takes place in the South Arm Park. This group goes to dim sum after every practice but I have not join them until this time.

20160811_104456

We went to the relatively new Fortune Terrace Chinese Cuisine across the Oval on River Road.

20160811_105012

The restaurant is decorated quite lavishly. When we arrived before 11:00 AM, the main hall was already full. So, we were seated in a back area, sort of a separate room. We had a large table as there were 16 of us.

Tea is free of charge because one of the participant has a VIP card.

20160811_105907

She managed to get the VIP card for everyone. The VIP card entitles for free tea and 12% discount except for seafood menu. The VIP card on the right was given out in the early days of opening. Now, they switched to a more economical type of paper card, :-).

Those who had been here before did the ordering. The above is Truffle, Ginger & Kai Lan, Egg White Fried Rice. Love the presentation. (more…)

Neptune Seafood Restaurant, Surrey

Polly, Rachel, Whitney and I met up in Surrey for brunch.

IMG_8807

We had dim sum at Neptune Seafood Restaurant which is a convenient location for Rachel and Whitney as they can do their groceries shopping at T&T in the same mall.

IMG_8804

I was late as I missed my bus by the seconds. So, Rachel and Whitney ordered the dim sum first so that the early bird discount applies.

IMG_8805

Tea charge is $1 per person as Rachel only drinks water. I do not know that one can opt out from tea charge in a party. Next time, I will ask for that because Arkensen does not drink Chinese tea.

IMG_8800

Polly and I just arrived on time as the food was served. Good timing.

IMG_8791

We had two ordres of the Stuffed Eggplant as we all love this dish. (more…)

South Ocean Seafood Restaurant at Garden City Plaza, Richmond

Ben and I stopped for dim sum on a Saturday morning in the middle of our walk.

IMG_8004

The parking in this strip mall is always a nightmare. It’s a good thing that we walked here.

IMG_7996

There was a 20 minutes wait for us. Ben loves the above painting in the restaurant. It’s called “Along the River During the Qingming Festival”. It represents the daily life of people and the landscape of the capital Bianjing (known as Kaifeng today) from the Northern Song period.

IMG_7998

The dim sum here is of the push cart style. You get to see what you want before ordering. Here is what we had; Steamed Chicken Feet. I love the fall off the bones skin which is rich in collagen. (more…)

Early Dim Sum at Imperial Court Beijing Cuisine at Brighouse Square, Richmond

My family went for an early dim sum breakfast on Good Friday.

IMG_7651

After searching for a while, the only restaurant that opens as early as 8:30am is Imperial Court Beijing Cuisine at Brighouse Square. Most of the dim sum restaurants in Richmond open after 9:00am.

IMG_7637

Tea charge is $1.25 per person. Even though there is people in the party who do not drink tea (like Arkensen), we still have to pay for tea charge for 3 people.

IMG_7643

Hot pot rice is on special price ($3.80) before 11:00am. We had the Chinese Sausage & Spare Ribs on Rice. This is a good deal. (more…)

IMG_7313

IMG_7315

This is a group meeting that ended with dim sum lunch on the last Friday of the month.

IMG_6515

This time, we had dim sum at Kalok Seafood Restaurant at Union Square.

IMG_6488

HML Seafood Restaurant on No. 3 Road, Richmond

This was a group lunch which I attended on a Friday.

IMG_6375

The good thing about HML is that there is no time limit for the 20% discount and there is no tea charge.

IMG_6372

Our group took up two large tables of 12 people per table.

IMG_6388

The above were just part of what we had. We had a lot of food and it only came up to $10 per person including tips.  (more…)
