Typhoon BBT on Cambie Road, Richmond

On a Friday evening, Ben got a text from Arkensen after picking me up from work that his bus was way late for its regular schedule. So, we had to change our plan of eating out in Vancouver and went back to Richmond to pick Arkensen up.

After picking Arkensen up, we decided to go to Typhoon BBT for dinner since we were near that neighbourhood.

The restaurant was not too busy when we arrived around 6:30PM.

Arkensen ordered the Beef Shank and Tendons Noodle Soup. (more…)

Pho Xe Lua 24 on Cambie St., Vancouver

After having an episode of food poisoning on the middle of a work week, I was on BRAT diet for the following 2 days; i.e. just crackers, dry toasts and banana. I lost 1.5kg during that few days. I am sure I will regain my weight once I’m back to my normal diet.

For the first regular meal after the bad experience, I picked something light and easy to digest, pho noodle soup.

I had a small Beef and Chicken ball Pho. I felt that the broth is slightly on the bland side, not sure if it’s due to my poor appetite after the food poisoning.

The bean sprouts and basil were very fresh. (more…)

Angel Cake House on Fraser St., Vancouver

Ben and I started our weekend ritual on a Friday evening. Ben usually picks me up from work and we will drive to some nearby neighbourhood for dinner.

For this Friday, we went to Angel Cake House for some comfort food.

Besides being a HongKong style restaurant, Angel Cake House also has a cake and dessert counter. We’ll see if we still have room for dessert after our dinner.

We ordered a House Special Chow Mien as we spotted our neighbour customer had some sort of chow mien which looks good. It did not disappoint as the chow mien was still crispy where the sauce has not soak into it. There were generous amount of assortment of meat on top of the noodles. (more…)

Sunshine Cafe in Crystall Mall, Burnaby

Ben and I went to Crystal Mall for lunch after church service on a Sunday afternoon.

We decided to try the above Taiwanese cafe called Sunshine Cafe.

We picked this cafe because we knew that the foodcourt will be packed at this hour. It will be very difficult to find a table during peak lunch hour.

I ordered the Hot Pot with lamb. It came on a small burner to keep the broth warm.  (more…)

NamNam Noodle on Main St., Vancouver

It’s TGIF. Ben picked me up from work and we made it a Friday dine out night to start the weekend.

We drove to Main St. to look for a dine out place. We could not decide where to eat and was thinking maybe we will revisit Hawker’s Delight. When we walked towards Hawker’s Delight, we noticed a new restaurant just a few doors away. So, we changed our plan and went to NamNam Noodle.

NamNam Noodle is a Chinese restaurant which serves hand pulled noodle.

The poster seems inviting enough for us with a reasonable price. (more…)

Dewan-E-Khass on Fraser Street., Vancouver

Ben and I went for lunch after church service. Ben decided to drive to Fraser St., to look for lunch idea.

We ended up with a Pakistani and Indian restaurant, Dewan-E-Khass.

The restaurant was not busy when we were there before 1:00PM. There were two other tables being occupied.

Ben must have read about this restaurant from Yelp.

We started off with an appetizer of fries as we saw both other tables had it. The serving was quite large and it’s a little oily.

We ordered a Fish Biryani for $11.95. The serving was big as it was piling up high on the plate. (more…)

Tandoori Oven Restaurant on Main St., Vancouver

Ben came to pick me up from work on a Friday evening. We decided to go out for dinner to wind down the work week.

Ben brought me to a hole in the wall Indian/Pakistani restaurant on Main St., Vancouver.

Tandoori Oven serves vegetarian, lamb, chicken, goat, beef, fish, kabab & tandoori entrees, biryani, burgers and wraps.

The most impressive feature is all dishes are under $10.

We ordered a Curry Chicken Thali which is on special of the day. We can choose either rice or naan with it. We opted for naan because our next dish is a rice dish. (more…)

Bubble Waffle Cafe at Ironwood Plaza, Richmond

I went out with my boys for dinner at Ironwood Plaza on a windy Saturday evening. Ben was still on his business trip.
We usually have dinner early, like between 5 to 6PM. However, Nanzaro was out running and we waited for him to return and shower. We arrived at Bubble Waffle Café close to 8:00PM and was surprised that we do not have to wait for a table.

Arkensen ordered the Boneless Hainanese Chicken Rice. The colour of the chicken rice was just off, too orangey.

Arkensen had iced coffee which comes free with the meal. The free drink only applies to coffee and milk tea. I had the hot honey lemon drink and Nanzaro had the iced version and our drink has and extra charge of 50cents. (more…)
